Grass Roots Tour

As part of the third edition of the Grass Roots programme, Muine Bheag Arts have commissioned four artists to present new works in public spaces in the town of Muine Bheag. You are invited to join the Muine Bheag Arts team for a guided tour of these public artworks by artists Cóilín O’Connell, Mollie Anna King, Niamh Seana Meehan and Holly Pickering.
Meeting at Rudkin’s Mill, Bachelors Walk at 2pm to start the tour.

Niamh Seana Meehan
River Barrow (Meeting at Bagenalstown Swimming Pool)
20 August, 12pm
Muine Bheag Arts is excited to present a new performance work by artist Niamh Seana Meehan. Niamh’s work explores the connection between the body and nature. She will facilitate a collective floatation in the River Barrow. You are invited to join the performance and float together in the river.
Meeting at Bagenalstown Swimming Club at 12pm. Bring your swimwear. Hot drink provided.
You are also welcome to observe the performance from the river bank.
Note: There will be a lifeguard on duty during the performance.
Print Workshop
Cóilín O’Connell
Muine Bheag Community Centre 26th August, 2pm
Muine Bheag Arts is delighted to present a print workshop by artist Cóilín O’Connell. Participants will collage, draw and edit to create their own publication, using image and text material related to Muine Bheag. This will be pulled from a variety of sources including; public historical/planning databases, online forums and original photographs and repurposed to make a new visual narrative.
Screening Event
Holly Pickering
Muine Bheag Community Centre 2nd September, 12 - 5pm
Muine Bheag Arts is delighted to present a screening of new film work by Holly Pickering. The film has been made in response to a period of time spent in Muine Bheag by the artist. The work explores themes of navigation and prediction. The screening will operate on a drop-in basis from 12-5pm in the Muine Bheag Community Centre.
