Biography


Gemma Kearney uses sculpture, drawing and text to think about aspects of social/cultural power. Her work is characterised by a spirit of material and symbolic engagement and a desire to implement ideas of action and negation. Gemma has an interest in indeterminacy, materialism and anti-formal modes of art production.

Gemma has an MA in Fine Art from LASALLE College of the Art Singapore and a BA in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art and Design. Most recently Gemma has been a recipient of the ArtLinks Bursary Award (2022) and has received awards such as the Arts Council’s Agility Award, Visual Artist Bursary Award and the Chan Davies Art Prize. Gemma’s work has been involved in exhibitions in Ireland, Singapore, Japan, Thailand and Germany.
