Muine Bheag Arts is pleased to present COMMUNE - a programme of live events in the Muine Bheag Community Centre from 12th - 18th August. The programme invites artists, community organisers, graduates-in-residence, gardeners, zine-makers, visitors and friends to contribute to an evolving and expanding programme.

COMMUNE takes inspiration from self-organised communities and is based on values of collectivity, exchange and experimentation. The Community Centre will act as a shared space to host talks, workshops, performances, screenings and an exhibition of self-published artists’ books.

The programme includes contributions from:
Bagenalstown Community Gardens, Millie Case, Mollie Donegan, Síofra Egan & Ruby Fitzsimons, Phil Collins, Aoife Ní Dhuinn & Falon Weaver, Isadora Epstein & Cóilín O’Connell, Peter Glasgow & Alex Paveley, Chloe Maguire (Distro: The Reading Room), Rory Mullen, Rosalind Nashashibi, NIVAL, Rohana Perera, Amy Strzoda and Fabrizio Terranova.

Aoife Ní Dhuinn and Falon Weaver will host a workshop on creating a vision board while inviting you to reflect on your dreams, share your hopes for the future and discuss what it means to be an adult today

A documentary by artist Phil Collins that examines the injustices of America’s prison-industrial complex and the power of house music as a catalyst for human connection

Amy Strzoda will host an evening of collective movement and dance inspired by céilí dancing. No experience required

Performance: The Band Keeps Playing On - Peter Glasgow + Alex Paveley
Muine Bheag Community Centre
17th August, 7pm

Peter Glasgow will explore themes within the honky tonk genre of country music using a unique self-built steel guitar together with drummer, Alex Paveley, in an informal mix of talking, playing and practising

Film Screening: Electrical Gaza - Rosalind Nashashibi
Muine Bheag Community Centre
18th August, 4pm

A film by artist Rosalind Nashashibi which presents Gaza as a place from myth: isolated, suspended in time, difficult to access and highly charged

The screening will be accompanied by a talk by Palestinian Solidarity and Anti-Racist Activist Rohana Perera
